Westox Cocoon in Abu Dhabi

Renovation of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa house in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.

The family home of the grandfather of the current president of the UAE is currently being restored to its original grandeur and turned into a public museum.

The Problem

The design team in-charge of restoring the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa House in Al Ain Abu Dhabi, made contact with Neoferma International based in Dubai looking for a product to extract salt from concrete structural sections of this historic building.

The restoration works required that any system chosen must be able to not only extract the harmful salts from deep inside the structure, but this must be done in a non-destructive manner.

The Solution

Neoferma, who are the Middle East Distributors for the Australian made Cocoon Desalination System, undertook extensive trials using Westox Cocoon in late December 2018.

After all the trials were completed and the results verified by local independent testing labs, Cocoon was approved and chosen for the project. Neoferma International will supply the Cocoon system and with its factory trained engineers will supervise the installation.

Rectification works are due to commence in June 2019
